Located in charming lawned gardens close to the A77, this hotel-style guest house boasts views over Loch Ryan and is just 20 yards from an attractive shingle beach. The guest house is 4 minutes' drive from Stranraer ferry terminal and a one minute drive from Cairnryan, making it ideally positioned for the Stena Line ferries to Belfast and the P&O ferries to Larne. Offering a range of accommodation, the building has the scale and design of a hotel (although we do not have a licensed bar), but offers the prices and hospitality that define a quality guest house or B&B. Opened by Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester in 1943, the building itself has had a variety of uses, boasting a history that can make a place feel very special. Whilst the rooms are decorated with contemporary furniture, the corridors and other communal areas mix antiques with modern design. Breakfast is served from 07:30, overlooking the gardens, the loch and the docking ferries. For earlier departures, a tray is provided with juice, cereal and either croissants (with preserves) or bacon, egg and tomato baguettes (by prior arrangement only).
