Starting with a short conference at Canterbury, we spent 3 weeks touring: north along the coast to Scotland, across to Oban and Iona, back to Glasgow and Edinburgh, staying in a number of B & Bs and hotels. But our most memorable stay was at the Rob Roy! Five nice en suite rooms, servicable and clean, the amazingly charming Salmon Bar, and the equally charming restaurant were topped only by the a lovely, welcoming owners and staff.
And then there was the food: beautifully prepared and presented, yet comfortably informal, featuring fresh seafood. If we ever get back to Northumberland we will go out of our way to stay at the Rob Roy, again. And I WILL have the kippers for breakfast, again.
