The hotel is OK, but is frankly overpriced for what it is. We arrived and our Executive Room was disappointing - green mould was growing in the bath, a couple of light bulbs had gone in the room and there were cobwebs. Not the end of the world, but just lacking in attention to detail. We decided not to stay in this room and would have left if reception had not agreed to find us a better room.

Our new room was better, but was still tired in appearence. The shower was poor, the television aged and our sheets had ink marks on them. The hotel was noisy. Having complained once, we were reluctant to complain again.

Breakfast was very mixed - the room was overcrowded, the food of low quality and the yoghurts were even past their "Best Before Date". The staff were edgey and undertrained.

All in all, the staff were friendly (especially at the front desk), BUT the hotel is just in need of refurbishment - it just needs £1m spent on it. Yes, there is a great new fitness centre, but that does not make up for the rooms in the main part of the hotel. We probably won't be returning...

And how about the £20 deposit to reserve a room? I've stayed in some very expensive hotels where you don't have to do that! Do they have a problem with people arriving and then wanting to leave? It wouldn't surprise me...

When we refer to our visit, we fondly remember the "Ringworm" Hall Hotel!
