My wife, Rosemary, my friend Tony and I spent the last night of a cycling holiday which began in Oban and ended at Lochmaddy, in the undeniably atypical but just as patently welcoming Old Courthouse. Rooms were excellent, including the sitting room, a real haven. Breakfast also superb. Indeed, I voted the porridge easily the finest of my trip, with a brilliant texture and rational amount of salt which redounds to Mrs Johnston's great credit. A nice touch when Mr Johnston appeared and gave us a wee insight into some of the area's background.
Rosemary and I will do our level best to return to the courthouse, and I recommend it to anyone seeking shelter in Lochmaddy.
