We stayed only one night in August 2006, but we loved every minute of our stay and definitely plan to return. The house was both comfortable and spacious, and the Victorian style breakfast room was truly delightful with the brick and all the lovely light. Exploring the grounds was so much fun because the property has numerous dividers and paths that entice a person to see what's around the next corner.
The very gracious Guild's treated us like family, and the camaraderie between them and their staff contributed to an overall atmosphere of congeniality.
When we were there, Lizzie had just completed manuals for each guest room that contained loads of information about what to do in the Salisbury area. She did a marvelous job of it! I learned more about the area in Lizzie's book than I found on the internet before my trip to England (from America).
And last but not least, we absolutely loved Lizzi'es unforgettable directions to a restaurant for dinner that included the statement, "continue past the pigs in the road..." Dinner was terrific, even though we didn't have pork.
We had such a lovely stay at the beautiful Newton Farmhouse. The breakfasts alone were worth the trip - Lizzie's delicious cooking is served in the beautiful solarium. The grounds, pool and trampoline were an added attraction - our children never wanted to leave! The very best part, though, was the warm hospitality displayed by the entire family (including Poppy the dog). We can't wait to go back!
