The accommodation was very clean and comfortable. The owners were friendly and helpful. The house and gardens are idyllic and peaceful. It is a great place to stay if you are visiting Edinburgh but want a quiet place to retreat to every evening. The 20 minute bus ride from the suburb of Balerno costs around £1 and it takes you to the hub of the city. We would definitely return to Newmills again.

I stayed at Newmills as a B&B guest (business locally) for three nights in July 07. The stay was excellent in all respects.

At the same time, a less-able friend stayed in the Studio (self-contained) and also considered it excellent - plus benefitting from the excellent local bus service into Edinburgh City Centre.

Thoroughly recommended.
