I wish i had the time to do this hotel and it's management justice. We travelled from London and arrived after 8pm with three children aged 8, 5 and 7 months, and all the luggage that goes with them! I called ahead to reserve a table for dinner (inc in the rate) and was assured by Mark the manager that one would be available when we arrived. Check in took a minute or two we dumped our bags and were seated for dinner within 10 minutes. Our children can be fussy eaters and I was slightly worried when Mark, rather than take their order from the menu asked them what they wanted to eat! I needn't have panicked, they chose sausages and a steak, neither of which were on the kids menu, but this mattered not a bit as fifteen minutes later their order arrived, exactly as they'd requested. The food was excellent and the menu varied, but the service was what made the meal . Two hours later we were still seated at the table and I'm happy to say it was one of the most relaxing dining experiences we've shared as a family. Ours and our childrens every need and whim was catered for (with a smile!) and we were made to feel more than welcome in what was a very nice restaurant (lovely view!). A game of draughts was a perfect end to a wonderful evening.
We stayed in a family room which consisted of a double and twin with an adjoining door. There was more than enough space for our family of five with cot and there was a second shower room/toilet. It was nicely decorated with quality furnishings, comfy beds and a plasma tv. Fresh fruit and bottled water was a welcome touch after the long drive . The bathroom is a wet room with shower and curtain and plenty of hot water. We had no problem with it.
Breakfast in the morning was pretty much whatever we wanted (inc dippy eggs and soldiers at the request of our 5 year old!) and was excellent. As we finished up Mark took the kids out for a kick about on the front lawn which they thoroughly enjoyed and we were grateful for the rare ten minutes to ourselves!.
We only stayed the one night as we were in the area for a wedding and moved hotels for convenience but we have friends nearby so will definately be visiting again.
What we enjoyed most about this hotel was the genuine friendly hospitality provided by the manager and the staff. We've stayed all over the world in five star hotels and can honestly say we've never had better service.
We can't recommend it highly enough.
