Found this delightful restaurant and hotel walking around this pretty town, had lunch here and was so impressed we booked dinner and decided to stay over in Holt. We particularly enjoyed the game pie and the local mussels - actually we particulalry liked the fantastic beers too. The menu is about quality and not about showing off - cosy surroundings and really attentive staff. We stayed in Room 1 - fantastic - clean and very quiet - the whole place is truly relaxing - the best night's sleep for ages and kippers for breakfast!
Stayed here with friends on a 4 day break to relax and get some sea air. A friend recommended that instead of staying in one of the overpriced seaside vilages like Blakeney (which is actually quite a way from the sea due to the tides up on the Norfolk coast) you should stay here and take trips to different places on the coast like Holkham, Wells and my favourite: Salthouse.
It was a brilliant decision. This hotel is cosy, friendly but most of all the staff really go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need - advising us on where to go, what to do and happily packing us some supplies when we decided to stride out for walks along the coast. Then we came "home" (The Lawns felt like home within about a half-hour!) to a log fire, fantastic beer and proper skillful cooking. Perfect de-stress!
The other advantage is that Holt is interesting in its own right - a pretty market town with antiques markets and interesting shops - not the ubiquitous chains!
