The first time that I visited Cornwall in 2005, I stayed at the Hollies for a week, and I enjoyed it so much, I returned again in 2006. I am a 53 year old man and live on my own, and wanted a walking and photographic holiday away from the pandamonium of London, and St. Ives fitted the bill perfectly. Ian and Beverley Trodd who run the Hollies made my stay as near perfect as possible and could not have done any more for me. From day 1, they very much treated me with the warmth of an old friend. The Hollies is kept spotlessly clean, to me it was pure luxury having my own toilet and shower, colour TV, tea & coffee making facilities and easily enough storage for my clothes so that I'm not living out of a suitcase. There was even a Bible in the top drawer so that if you want, you can even have a read of the Good Book, which I did. I found that the tarriff was very reasonable, and was also less than a 10 minute walk from St. Ives town centre with breathtaking views from the Malakoff Gardens that overlook St. Ives Harbour and Porthminster Beach. On the other side of St.Ives is Porthmeor Beach where I even saw people surfing. The Hollies also offer a light breakfast or indeed the full English, which I found was very nicely prepared with all the toast and marmalade/jam you can eat, along with tea or coffee. Breakfast at the Hollies usually kept my boiler stoked until well into the afternoon. I have to say that when friends asked about my St. Ives holiday, I had just one word, "EXCELLENT". Thank you Ian & Beverley, I sure hope to be back.
