When my husband and I arrived at Holland Hall they had already put another couple in the Suite we had booked. We had to stay in another room for the night and the next day we moved into the Suite. It was inconvenient for us but the manager just shrugged his shoulders. The suite was nice but not worth the money we paid for it. There were 2 showers but no bath. We had booked 2 rooms in advance for our friends who were arriving the following day. The hotel also messed up this booking. The 2 rooms were "scruffy" and not very clean. In one of the rooms half the power points and lights didn't work. In another room there was no hot water from the hot tap in the bath and our friends couldn't have a bath. The rooms cost £90.00 each which, in my opinion, were way overpriced. Breakfast is included in the cost of the room but it is only continental. If you want a cooked breakfast you have to pay extra and order it the night before. The hotel staff didn't tell us the check-out time and there was no information in the rooms, so we assumed it was 12.00pm. It was actually 11.00am and because nobody had told us we didn't know. The receptionist phoned us repeatedly after 11.00am to check out and we had to pack in a rush. One of my friends got locked out of the hotel one night because a member of staff had locked the front door. No one told us that there were front door keys with our room keys. Another friend who stayed in a £75.00 room found that her bath and sink were dirty and looked like they had not been cleaned after the last visitor.
The service is in the restaurant is slow but the food is nice. The majority of the staff are friendly, however, this doesn't make up for the inefficiency. The manager is extremely rude and didn't make any effort to please the customer. We nick-named Holland Hall "faulty towers". If you want value for money I wouldn't recommend this hotel.
